What if it was okay to want what you want?

What if it was okay to want what you want?

You want something, we all do.

Some of us try to pretend we don’t want too badly; we don’t want to look needy. Some of us are completely open about all the things we want and don’t care how we look.

Where are you on the spectrum? Are you okay with wanting something deeply and also at the same time not having it? Or do you beat yourself up and feel terrible because you don’t have that thing you wish you could have?

When you want something you don’t have, how can you be happy wanting it, but not having it? And to make matters worse, so many spiritual teachers tell us that as soon as you acknowledge that there is a thing you want but don’t have (something you lack), you are stepping into the energy of not having it and thus creating more of the not having.

Geeze! Well that’s crappy! How the heck are you ever supposed to get something new if those are the rules? Something doesn’t add up.

I have found that when you take away the energy – the significance of the thing that you are wanting but don’t yet have – you allow it to come.

You allow it to come when you stop caring so much that it’s not here.

Sounds like the same advice you’ve gotten from the Law of Attraction or Buddhist philosophy, right? “Want without wanting.” Just step into that state of non-attachment and everything will work out.

I used to say, “Well, if I knew how to do that I wouldn’t need some teacher to repeat the EXACT same advice as the last one and expect me to magically get it this time!”

Have you ever felt that frustrated with the standard, accepted advice of the ages? I hate to tell you but being frustrated with it doesn’t make it any less true. If you CAN get to that place of non-attachment, it will be magical, BUT, and it’s a big but, how the heck do you get there? More on that soon I promise.

Here is the difference I talk about in my approach: I say there are things you can do about the wanting something but needing to release it.

It’s not just about magically not wanting all of a sudden. That is unlikely. I say that there are negative or unproductive beliefs in the way that you can clear. There is energy you can align. Heck, there are even parts of you stuck in past lives that you can clear up. (Yeah, this stuff gets weird. But what if this is what will finally work?)

All of this is work that I do with my clients, but if you don’t have a “me” there with you right now? What can you do to be in this magical state of wanting without wanting? What can you do to clear those beliefs and energies?

I would start with the following beliefs to clear – run them often. Remember, first you ask the question and then answer “yes” or “no”. If the answer is “yes”, you release that belief. If the answer is “no”, you get to keep it. (If you’re looking for more clearings, join me on Friday afternoons at 2:00pm EST on my Facebook page.)

The belief that it’s not okay to want what you want: Would you be willing to destroy that at the point of creation?

The belief that wanting something means you’ll never get it: Would you be willing to destroy that at the point of creation?

The belief that wanting means not having, so you can’t want something because you’ll never get it: Would you be willing to destroy that at the point of creation?

Everyone else’s points of view that you’ve picked up about wanting, desire, manifestation and how to create what you’d like to experience: Would you be willing to return all of those to their sender with love and consciousness attached?

Would you be willing to destroy at the point of creation all the definitions of want and lack that you have been operating from?

You can get clear, you are allowed to have what you want, enjoy the journey.
